Can't keep the boy down!
Derick gets to go on our trip after all!
When I brought the bag home Russell put Derick in it right away and he loved it. He thought it was great.
We are looking forward to our trip, it should be a lot of fun. We are hoping that Derick dose really good. It is hard to know what to bring and how much to pack and so on. If you have any advise I would love to hear it.
(Thanks for the outfit Lindsey)

ARR MATEY!
It was so fun to dress Derick up as a pirate. I think Russell had more fun with it than I did. I was able to make his costume for $3. I just got the dollar a yard material from Wal-Mart and made it up. But Russell did not think that the the costume was complete with out an earring or 2. So he spent way more on the magnetic earrings then I did on the whole costume.

6 Months Old Today
Happy Half Birthday to you, Happy Half Birthday to you, Happy Half Birthday to Derick, Happy Half Birthday to you!
It is crazy to think that we have had Derick in our family for 6 months now. He is getting so big. Yesterday Grandma Bishop and Aunt LaNae came to visit. Derick loved getting spoiled. He loves to have new faces come and visit. It must be more entertaining then just mom and dad. When Grandma Bishop was her she brought a few new things for Derick to wear this winter. She also brought some things from Aunt Lindsey. Thanks so much RosaLee and Lindsey now Derick will be warm this winter.

I had to take Derick to the Doctor today for his 6 month check up. He has gained a few pounds but only grew about half of an inch. He has always been a long baby and Russell and I are both on the short end so we thought that one of these days he was just going to stop growing so long. Well he did! But he is healthy and doing well. He had to get 4 shots. It was so sad he cried and cried. He always cries when he gets shots but this was different, he seemed like his feelings were really hurt. Poor boy!
The Doctor told me to start feeding him some vegetables. So we decided to start with green beans. Well as you can see he was not a big fan. He was gaging and spitting it out. I was laughing so hard. I loved the faces he was making. The Doctor said that he would probably eat a whole jar of it, not so he ate about 1/4 of a jar and was done.

Sleeping In His Crib
Derick is now almost 5 months old. It is great! He loves to smile and play. WE are now working on getting him to sleep in his crib. I have always put him in bed with me because I was in survival mode. He had colic for about 4 months and I did what ever worked so that I could get a bit of sleep.
We are doing pretty good about getting him to sleep for a bit in his bed. He will take at least one nap a day in there and he will sleep for a bit of the night in his crib. It really is like new found freedom.
Little by little we will get him sleeping all of the time in there. I can't wait!
